Mileage check is a feature available in the OBDeleven app that reads odometer data stored in various control units of Volkswagen Group and BMW F Series and G Series cars. It compares those readings to see if there are signs of mileage rollback.

The app then provides an easy-to-read result that indicates whether your car’s mileage appears genuine or has been possibly corrected.

Why is Mileage check useful?

Mileage check can help you verify if the displayed mileage on the dashboard matches what’s stored in the vehicle’s systems. This can reveal possible tampering – especially useful when buying a used car.

The feature also allows you to view mileage from key control units, including the engine, transmission, steering assistance, and more.

How to use the Mileage check feature and where to find it?

Make sure your OBDeleven 3 device is plugged into your car’s OBD port and connected to your phone via Bluetooth. On the bottom menu of the OBDeleven app, tap “Garage”, select your vehicle, and click on “Mileage check.”

This will open a screen with a button “Start mileage check” at the bottom. The feature will begin scanning and comparing data across the control units after you tap this button.

When the check is complete, you’ll see a summary showing the color-coded result:

  • Green or “Good”: All readings appear consistent

  • Yellow or “Suspicious”: Some values are inconsistent and indicate potential tampering

  • Red or “Correction suspected”: Readings are inconsistent, making mileage correction or rollback likely

Additionally, you’ll see mileage readings from each module. This can help you quickly spot if any system reports a different mileage value than it’s supposed to.

Things to keep in mind

Some vehicles may not store mileage in every control unit; therefore, results can vary.

Additionally, a mismatch doesn’t always mean fraud – sometimes it can happen after replacing or resetting a module. Still, it’s a good signal to take a closer look if something seems off.
