What are Car alerts?

This feature requires the OBDeleven app version from 2.1.0. Starting April 9, Car alerts will be rolled out to all users gradually over the week.

Car alerts is a feature in the OBDeleven app that monitors your car in the background and notifies you when changes are detected.

To use Car alerts, an OBDeleven 3 device is required. When you leave it plugged in, the device tracks changes in the number of fault codes and lets you know when it’s the right time to run a full diagnostic scan.

The feature is available with the FREE plan – no PRO or ULTIMATE subscription is needed.

What do Car alerts do?

Car alerts continuously monitor your car without requiring manual check-ups and planning. As long as your OBDeleven 3 device is plugged in, it keeps checking your car in the background and looks for changes in the number of fault codes.

You don’t need to think about diagnostics or check your car regularly – everything happens automatically. Car alerts send a notification to your smartphone when:

  • A new fault code appears

  • An existing fault code disappears

Then, you can run a diagnostic scan to check the status and understand what needs attention – this helps you catch issues early and avoid bigger, more expensive repairs in the long run.

How to use Car alerts?

Car alerts work automatically once set up. To get started:

1. Plug in your OBDeleven 3 and connect it to your vehicle

2. Open the OBDeleven app and navigate to Home

3. In the Car alerts widget, tap "Enable alerts":

4. Follow the on-screen instructions and allow all required permissions

5. Pair your OBDeleven 3 device

6. Once setup is complete, the widget will show that Car alerts are enabled

That’s it – your car will be monitored in the background, and you’ll be notified when it’s time to run a scan. Just don’t forget to keep your OBDeleven 3 plugged in.

Do Car alerts replace diagnostics?

Not exactly. Car alerts let you know when something changes, but you still need to run a full scan to see detailed fault codes.

However, this helps avoid constant manual checks and gives you consistent updates on your car’s condition.
