Before troubleshooting — check device & app compatibility
Step 1: Which device do you have?
OBDeleven 1 (FirstGen)
• Works only with OBDeleven for VAG app
• Android only
• VAG vehicles only
• Not compatible with the newest 2024+ VAG models
If you try using OBDeleven 1 with the new OBDeleven app, it will NOT be detected.
If you are connecting to BMW, Toyota, or Ford, or any other brand, OBDeleven 1 will not work.
OBDeleven 1 works ONLY with VAG cars up to 2023.
OBDeleven 2 (NextGen)
• Works with both apps
• Android & iOS
• Supports VAG, BMW, Toyota
OBDeleven 3
• Same as OBDeleven 2
• Also supports Ford (US models)
Step 2: Which app are you using?
OBDeleven for VAG Application
• Full VAG support
• Does NOT support BMW / Toyota / Ford / Other Brands
OBDeleven Application
• Supports VAG, BMW, Toyota, Ford
• Does NOT support some very old K-Line VAG vehicles (e.g., Golf 4, older Audi A4)
If your vehicle is very old (~2008 or earlier), the connection may not work in the new app.
Device not found (Bluetooth issue)
If the app cannot find your device:
Do this in order:
1️⃣ Plug the device fully into the OBD2 port.
2️⃣ Turn ignition ON (dashboard lights must be on).
3️⃣ Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
4️⃣ Allow Bluetooth + Location permissions for the app.
On iOS:
Location permission is required for Bluetooth scanning.
On Android:
Make sure OBDeleven is not restricted by battery-saving settings.
If still not detected:
5️⃣ Turn Bluetooth OFF → ON again.
6️⃣ Restart your phone.
7️⃣ If you have OBDeleven 2 or 3, you may try both apps.
8️⃣ Try another phone/tablet if available.
Unable to connect or continuously spinning with no error message
Open the mobile app
Press "Menu" -> "Device"
Delete all devices from the list
Restart your phone
Turn on location services
Open the application (don't pair the device via Bluetooth)
Click on the "Connect" button
Device connects, but the car is not detected
If Bluetooth connects but the car is not recognized:
Do this:
1️⃣ Ignition must be ON.
2️⃣ Wait 20–30 seconds after turning ignition ON.
3️⃣ Try starting the engine and reconnecting.
4️⃣ Make sure the vehicle is supported. -> Supported Vehicles <-
If still no control units found:
• Try reconnecting
• Re-seat the device firmly
• Try to run a scan of the car
• Make sure the battery is not extremely low
Bad internet connection or endless loading
If you see:
• Bad internet connection
• Timeout
• Loading forever
Try:
1️⃣ Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
2️⃣ Disable VPN or proxy.
3️⃣ Log out → Log back in.
4️⃣ Restart the app.
Device connects then disconnects
If the connection drops randomly:
• Make sure the device is fully inserted
• Do not use OBD extension cables
• Try with the engine running
• Make sure your car battery is charged
• Try to reinstall the OBDeleven application
• Logout → Login
• Restart phone
A loose OBD2 connector in the car can cause instability.
Device is not authorised / Validation Failed error
Reinstall the mobile app. If the issue persists, contact our Customer Support with your purchase details.
Device not responding
• Unplug and plug again
• Restart phone
• Try another phone
• Make sure ignition is ON
If still not responding on multiple phones and vehicles, contact support.
Server error
• Wait 5 minutes
• Log out → Log back in
• Check if an app update is available
• Switch internet connection
Connection vs plan confusion
Connection does NOT depend on your plan.
You do NOT need:
• PRO
• Ultimate
• Credits
to connect to your vehicle.
If the app asks for Credits, that is related to One-Click Apps, not connection.
Quick checklist (fast diagnosis)
✔ Correct device for your app
✔ Correct app for your vehicle
✔ Ignition ON
✔ Bluetooth + Location allowed
✔ Internet stable
✔ No VPN enabled
✔ Logged into the correct account
If all the above are correct, the connection should work in most cases.
Still Not Working?
Contact support and include:
• Device type (1 / 2 / 3)
• Phone model + OS version
• Vehicle model + year
• Which app are you using
• Screenshot of error message
This helps diagnose much faster.
⚠️ Important Compatibility Note
Newest VAG vehicles from 2024+ use SFD2 protection.
This may limit certain functions, but it does NOT prevent basic connection.
We're actively working with Volkswagen Group (VAG) to build a solution that meets their standards and supports your needs. We’ll keep you updated as soon as there’s progress.
OBDeleven FirstGen still works reliably with supported VAG vehicles up to model year 2023.
If issues persist, contact our Customer Support by pressing "Help" in the OBDeleven app.
Note: The OBDeleven 1 (FirstGen) device works only with Android and requires a stable internet connection. It's not compatible with iOS.
