Maintenance reminders help you stay on top of your car’s most important services, so you never miss an oil change, filter replacement, or even insurance and license renewals. You can choose from a list of common services or create your own custom car-related reminders to have them all in one space.
How do Maintenance reminders work?
When you set a reminder, the OBDeleven app will send push notifications before the service is due: that’s 1 month, 2 weeks, and 1 day prior. You’ll also see status labels in your Garage, making it easy to spot what’s coming up:
All good – no pending services
Due soon – approaching tasks
Overdue – action required
Who can use Maintenance reminders?
Maintenance reminders are available on iOS 17.0+ and Android 8.0+, with CarPlay support for viewing your reminders. Widgets for Android and Android Auto are not yet supported.
Update the OBDeleven app to version 2.1.0 for full compatibility.
How to create Maintenance reminders?
1. Open the OBDeleven app and tap "Vehicle" in the bottom menu:
2. If your car is already connected, you can select Maintenance reminders, then tap the blue + button to add a new reminder. If not, firstly select your vehicle and continue to Maintenance reminders – a connection is required to have accurate mileage data.
3. You can choose from preset tasks or create a custom reminder with your own description. Tap on the search button in the top right corner or sort by categories to find the one you need quicker.
Depending on the reminder, you can choose whether to be reminded by date and mileage, or just by date or by mileage only.
Mileage data can also be read from the last scan you ran on your car with your OBDeleven device, and the app calculates how many kilometers remain until the next service.
4. Tap on the reminder you want and select which method works better work you – we give our recommendation at the top:
5. Enter the last service date, last service mileage, or both:
6. Reminders have pre-set ranges for upcoming services (e.g., 12 months), but you can choose to manually add the service period and next due date.
For mileage-based notifications, choose from suggested options such as every 10,000 km, 20,000 km or enter a specific mileage number.
Note: OBDeleven 3 device will update the mileage automatically as long as you run a scan on your car once in a while. When it sees you’re approaching a set reminder, it’ll trigger a notification to remind you.
7. Choose how often, and how in advance you want to be notified – on the day, 2 weeks before, or 1 month before.
For mileage-based notifications, you can get notifications when the odometer reaches a set number – for example, after 500km or 1000km driven:
You can also add any notes you want to remember for next time – like the oil type – in this case. There’s also quick-add suggestions for the most common notes.
8. Tap on Next one more time and that’s it – your reminder is set. Find it in the Maintenance reminders’ catalog:
The reminders due soonest will also show up as a widget on the Home tab.
History & costs
You can also log completed services to maintain a full car service history, including:
Service or renewal name
Completion date
Mileage at completion
Service cost
When it’s time to do scheduled maintenance or renewal, don’t forget to navigate to your reminder and Mark as completed.
This will automatically prompt a screen to enter the details:
And there you go – all the information is available under the History & Costs tab.
Keep logging your services to track how many have been completed and how much you’ve spent on your vehicle overall. You’ll also build a handy record for future reference – perfect for comparing parts and maintenance costs over time.
Plus, when you mark the reminder as complete, the reminder is also automatically updated. The logged service date is set as the new last service date, and the app recalculates the next due date based on the service interval you originally selected.
The same applies to mileage reminders: once you record a service, the system restarts the mileage countdown using the mileage you entered.
This means you don’t have to manually reset your reminders every time – just log the service, and the app adjusts future reminders for you.
Managing reminders
Reminders appear on the main Maintenance reminders screen with their status. To delete a reminder, open it, and press on the trashcan icon at the top right of the screen.
Adding widgets
Maintenance reminders also support iOS home screen and CarPlay widgets. They will display one or two reminders with the closest due date directly on your screen, allowing you to keep track of upcoming services without needing to open the app.
The number of reminders displayed in a widget will depend on the selected widget size.
Adding widgets to your home screen
On your iPhone’s home screen, touch and hold a widget or an empty area until the apps jiggle:
2. Tap Edit in the upper-left corner and click on Add Widget:
3. Find OBDeleven widgets, choose a size, then tap Add Widget. Once you place the widget wherever you see fit, tap Done in the upper-right corner. The widgets will be displayed like this:
Adding widgets to CarPlay
